Guitarists, especially jazz and solo guitarists, seem to realize the need to figure out the "Do Re Mi (C, D, E) (P1, M2, M3) on the guitar" at a relatively early stage. One common reason is the lack of TAB notation in teaching materials and theory books, but there are many other things that are good to figure out.
