Marine Fauna Sightings is designed to allow all water users to digitally submit their sightings of some marine fauna (e.g. whales and seals) off the Australian coast. Despite the iconic nature of much of Australia’s marine mega-fauna (large marine animals), there is still much to be learnt, particularly regarding their range, abundance and movement patterns. Your sightings of marine mega-fauna, combined with sightings from other users, will give us a much better understanding of where and when different species occur or move along our coast, and their behaviour patterns.
