Why It Moved keeps a diary of the days your stocks, funds and coins moved far more than they normally do, and asks you one question about each of them: what do you think caused it? Every ticker has its own normal. A 4% day is routine for a young coin and remarkable for a large stock, so the app measures each daily change against that ticker's usual daily move (the standard deviation of its previous 60 daily changes) and lists only the days that went 2, 2.5 or 3 times further — you choose the threshold and whether to look back 6 or 12 months.
