You read with the phone face up on the table. So the timer should live on the Lock Screen, not behind three taps inside an app. Start a reading session from Control Center or the Action Button and it runs as a Live Activity on your Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island. You never open Shelfside to read. SCAN A SHELF IN MINUTES Point the camera at a barcode and the book appears — cover, title, author, page count.
