A soil test report states its recommendation in pounds of nitrogen, phosphate and potash per 1,000 square feet. The bag in your shed says 10-10-10. Loam closes that gap. THE GAP IS BIGGER THAN IT LOOKS Take a recommendation of 50 pounds of nitrogen per acre. From ammonium sulfate at 21% nitrogen that is 5.48 pounds of product. From urea at 46% it is 2.5 pounds. Same recommendation, same ground, and the second bag needs less than half the weight of the first. Get that backwards and you have either wasted a season or burned the bed.
