A drafting sheet, and blocks with grooves cut into them. Lay a route from the feeder to the catcher, then let the ball go and find out whether it works. Laying a route is not the same as finishing one: a climb costs speed and a drop returns some of it, but what you get back from coming down never pays for going up again.
