Save shared albums to Photos

Someone shares a Google Photos album with you: a wedding, a school trip, a weekend with friends. The photos sit in an app that is not yours, behind a link you have to remember to open. They are not in your camera roll, not in your iCloud backup, and they are gone from your life the day you lose the link.
