Named parts, not anonymous rectangles. Give every piece a name as you enter it — Side A, Shelf, Back rail — and the name rides along into the layout, the cut order and the shared plan. At the saw you read a name and a dimension instead of matching a bare number back to a drawing. One project, mixed stock. A real build is not one material. Put red oak, pine and a length of moulding in the same project, give each one its own stock sizes and its own end trim, and let the engine keep them apart.
