One culprit among thousands

A murder has been committed on board. Nobody could leave. Among hundreds or thousands of suspects, only one did it, and it is up to you to find out who. Every suspect has a face and a card: job, age, height, deck, port of embarkation, tobacco, distinguishing marks. The case file holds what the investigation turned up: the doctor's report, the witness statements, the exhibits picked up near the body and photographed. No piece of evidence names anyone.
