Pavement Paws

Is the ground too hot to walk?

Pavement Paws tells you when to walk your dog on a hot day, before you step outside. On a sunny afternoon, asphalt can run 25 degrees hotter than the air. Pavement Paws takes your local forecast for temperature, sunshine and wind, and estimates how hot the ground gets in full sun, hour by hour, for asphalt, concrete, artificial turf and grass. Then it turns that into a plan: "Walkies before 10:40 or after 18:20." A colour band and a chart show the whole day, how long the ground stays too hot for paws, and why the pavement is still warm in the evening after the air has cooled. Prefer no chart?…
