Phutball (Philosopher's Football) is a two-player strategy game invented by the mathematician John Conway. There is one white ball and a pile of black stones that belong to no one. On your turn, either place a stone anywhere, or jump the ball over a line of stones, removing every stone you jump. Chain jumps together, swing the game in a single move, and land the ball on your opponent's goal line to win. The rules take a minute to learn. The tactics keep surprising you.
